One of the world's most beautiful and fascinating cities, a Baltic cruise is a great way to see St Petersburg.

St Petersburg is an ideal location for a cruise destination and with so much to see and do in the city you are unlikely to get bored, close to Finland and the rest of Europe, situated on the Neva River.

St Petersburg has an intriguing history and there are numerous famous landmarks incorporating fantastic architecture that are worth a visit.

These include St Isaac's and the Karzan cathedrals - which are spectacular sights - the Mariinsky Palace and St Michael's Palace.

Architecture in the city is fabulous and a great way to admire the buildings is to take a boat trip down the Griboyedov Canal.

It has an interesting history and after being built by serfs and Swedish prisoners it became a popular place for Russia's elite.

The two world wars - where its name was changed to the less-German sounding Petrograd - and under the Soviet Union, but from a time of serfs and tsars the city underwent dramatic transformation in the revolution.

Now it is a popular stop-off point for tourists and offers a great city break for those on a cruise holiday.
